Kerry Film Festival set for another quality packed programme in it's 18th year!

Last Friday evening in Scotts Hotel in Killarney saw the launch of the 18th Kerry Film Festival and the unveiling of a programme to rival any film festival.
Running from the 19th to 22nd October the Kerry Film Festival again brings exceptional short films from around the world along with national and regional programmes.
Connections with the county of Kerry are plentiful throughout with the opening feature The Crest seeing much of the film captured in Kerry and following two descendants of an Irish King who meet for the first time in Ireland.
The festival will also host, for the first time, a platform for first time feature film makers. These Discovery Features will screen on Thursday 19th October and each feature film will be preceded by a featured short film. There will also be school screenings supported by the IFI and film festival exchange favourites, Nickel Film Festival Tour.
An undoubted highlight sees KFF  host the Irish Premiere of Lies we Tell the latest Gabriel Byrne vehicle will also stars the brilliant Harvey Keitel.
Other highlights include Ireland’s submission for the Foreign Language category at the 90th annual Academy Awards, Song of Granite, the Irish premiere of Score - a film music documentary and the documentary  Kevin Roche: The Quiet Architect which will screen on Sunday 22nd October at Cinema Killarney while the closing film of the festival is the Irish Premiere of A Captain Unafraid from Killarney film maker Charlie O’Brien.
This year, the Kerry Film Festival will present the Maureen O’Hara Award for 2017 to Emmy nominated, multi-award winning documentary director and feature film editor, Emer Reynolds to celebrate her contribution to the film industry and in admiration for her work which continues to engage audiences and inspire fellow filmmakers whilst  Emer’s film The Farthest will also screen during the festival.
Without question the quality filled programme includes something for everyone who is a lover of film.
